LED RETROFIT

The Go Green Initiative (GGI) was founded in 2002 in Pleasanton, by Jill Buck, and SafeSide Electrical Contractor wants to help all their customers in do what they can to Go Green. The Go Green Initiative is an environmental education and stewardship program located in all 50 US states and in 73 countries. It is free to all schools and operating in pre-schools through universities. The Go Green Initiative also have its own mean of Go Green called as G.R.E.E.N It is: G for Generate less waste R for Recycle everything that cannot be reused E for Educate the community on eco-friendly options E for Evaluate the environmental impact of actions N for Nourish discussions and activities that integrate environmental education into existing curriculum Also known as the GGI (abbreviation for Go Green Initiative); The GGI program focuses on training volunteers and teachers in order to protect human health and reserve natural resources for the future generations. Focusing on the integration of environmental education into the existing school curriculums. The first GGI School was Walnut Grove Elementary.

LED Retrofit

LED stands for "light emitting diode." A diode is an electrical component with two terminals which conduct the electricity only in one direction. With an electrical current, the diode emits a bright light around the small bulb. Typically, diodes have been used in many technologies such as radios, televisions and computers as an electrical component for conduction.

Connecting a diode to an electrical current excites the electrons within the diode, making them release photons, which we see as light. The color of the light is a direct result of the energy gap in the semiconductor of the diode. This means that LEDs produce a spectrum of colors easily and brightly while using very little electricity to do so.

In the search for energy-efficient lighting, LEDs have proven to be the most efficient bulbs available. Energy Star--rated LEDs use at least 75 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last 25 times longer, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. LEDs even outdo CFL (compact fluorescent lighting) bulbs in efficiency, primarily because they have twice the lifespan of CFLs. LEDs are more efficient than both incandescents and CFLs because they emit light in a targeted direction instead of scattering it in all directions and they don't require or emit great amounts of heat.

T8 T5 RETROFIT

T8 or T5 Lamp & Ballast Retrofits

Retrofitting T12 to T8 fluorescent light fixtures can save a significant amount of energy and money. The retrofit process involves removing the existing low output T12 lamps and magnetic ballasts, replacing them with high output T8 lamps and energy efficient electronic ballasts. Cutting lighting energy usage in half. T8 lamps typically put out twice as much light, a process called delamping brings the light output back to what you originally had. In addition, you get better quality lighting which, based on a 40 hour week, will retain 95% of its light output for over 10 years (24,000 hours). This process reduces the energy consumption and cost to between 40 - 80 percent of T12 lamps. Magnetic ballasts waste energy, in the form of heat. Our certified electricians often need to wear gloves to remove them. The heat warms up the facility, and air-conditioning must work harder to get rid of this heat caused by the inefficient magnetic ballasts thereby wasting much of the energy used by the air-conditioning. T12 lamps typically need to be replaced every few months to retain the light output, and the new technology T8 lamps last 24,000 hours, there is little or no maintenance costs.
