We checked SEVERAL companies before deciding to go with Safeside. Beside the GREAT estimate that beat ALL others by far, they were working with us to NOT tear open our walls, which gets costly and time consuming. The crew did what they promised and in the time promised also! Safeside DID what most all the other Electrical companies told me can\'t be done!

They worked with us up close and personal designing/installing our custom electrical system! This was a COMPLETE re-wire from a new meter, underground wires from house to garage, all new switches/plugs, etc... to a new power supply at the pole. All permits were pulled on time, and ALL passed inspection FIRST time(unlike other companies we have had work on our house with much simpler work)ZERO problems so far(don\'t expect any). The crew was knowledgeable and explained what was going on at all times. A great experience overall! I would rec Safeside to anyone needing small to large electrical needs.

It's been awhile ago and I wish I could remember the gentleman's name off the top of my head but it's gone I'm afraid. Really, really good service experience and I have recommended your company to others already actually.

Very knowledgeable technician, very tidy in his work and personable. The outcome was also excellent. Everything he came to fix was fixed properly and he even went above and beyond and quickly put up a couple bathroom sconces for me.

If I ever need electrical work again you can bet I will be calling you guys!

Keith and his team did a superb job in first listening to my needs and not pushing any more lighting that I needed. After we spoke, he clearly stated to his team what I wanted and what he expects from his team. It was great to see the project progress through out the day and the management of his team. Our family room looks great!

Nothing but professional service from start to finish. The bidding process is done via email which speeds the process. The job was scheduled to be started and completed on Saturday, but due to supply issues it was not possible to start on Saturday. The company owner came out on Sunday and completed the work. The work was exactly what I expected; very high quality.

We used safeside a year ago to install a 200A breaker box and redo some of the wiring in our 40 year old home. They did an excellent job despite having to fish through fresh blown in insulation and working in some really challenging spaces. Our wiring was a mess, but since they fixed it we haven't had any blow breakers nor any other electrical issues that used to be present.

We used them again today to fix the outdoor lighting on our house that the previous owner botched. After a couple hours of working through the problem, Keith was able to correct the issue on-site in a couple hours. When we called, Keith responded and was able to drop-in the same day. That's what i call service!!!

Co-workers have also used them and been very impressed. Would definitely recommend them.

TESTIMONIAL: I should have posted this review quicker as the work done for my husband and myself was excellent and SEC deserves praise for a job done well but also efficiently and professionally. Keith installed a new 200amp breaker box in our 1950's home during the Christmas season rush. We were trying to get some kitchen work done and the breaker box change was necessary before anything else could occur. I knew nothing of SEC before hiring them for this work but I have hired them again since for additional electrical work. And I gladly look forward to using them in the future. Thank you Keith and SEC!

I recently did some upgrades on my bathrooms and kitchen. This was my first time doing any remodeling and I really wanted to find a company I knew I could trust and feel like I wasn't going to get cheated because of the horror stories I have heard from friends. I had a few different companies provide me with bids on my project. Right away I felt comfortable with Safeside Electric. I prefer doing business with people who are straight to the point and I don't have to waste a lot of time having them feed me things that they think I want to hear.

I got an easy to comprehend, organized, and professional contract showing me exactly what I was paying for. Which was refreshing because most of the companies I contacted wrote their quotes on paper and weren't legible. I decide on going with Safeside Electric and was put on the schedule at my convenience. The owner was accommodating and professional to deal with.

I recommend Safeside Electric to anyone who wants quality work, and wants to get what they pay for. I am already in the process of planning the rest of my remodeling and I'm using Safeside Electric for the Electrical portion.

Safeside Electric worked on a remodel project on our garage where we added an office/guest room. Keith, the owner, was extremely professional and easy to work with throughout the entire project. The job was done professionally, on time and without mistakes! Keith also make the quoting process very easy as he spells out exactly what you will be getting for the amount charged. We are hoping to start a larger remodel project in the near future and Safeside Electric will be part of the team!! You will not be disappointed!

A California electrical contractor is a business person or firm that performs specialized construction work related to the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems-a $130 billion industry in the United States.

A California electrical contractor is different from a California certified electrician; an California certified electrician is an individual tradesman and an California electrical contractor is a business person or company that employs California certified electricians. Both usually hold licenses and insurances to properly and safely operate a business, protecting the employees and home owners/business owners from insurance liabilities. These requirements vary from state to state. California certified electricians may work for an California electrical contractor, or directly for individuals or companies.

Industry Classifications For California Electrical Contractor

California electrical contractors are generally classified by three major types of work performed. " "Outside" or "line" contractors are responsible for high-voltage power transmission and distribution lines. Line contractors build and maintain the infrastructure required to transport electricity generated at a power plant through a series of high-voltage lines and substations before it is used to power facilities, buildings, and homes. " "Inside" California electrical contractors provide electricity to any structure within a property's boundary lines, including outdoor lighting or substations. Under current construction specification guidelines, "inside" California electrical contractors can serve as prime contractors for all electrical and cabling design, installation, and maintenance for commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. Projects also include Database Centers/Infrastructure and Pharmaceutical Work. " "Integrated building systems" (IBS) or "Voice/Data/Video" (VDV) California electrical contractors work primarily with low-voltage installations such as back-up power, climate controls, wireless networks, energy-efficient lighting, telecommunications, fiber optics, and security systems. IBS contractors are particularly skilled at integrating these system controls to work together for maximum energy efficiency and building performance.

California Electrical Contractor Industry Certified Electrician Jobs

California electrical contractors employ California certified electricians in many capacities, determined by their level of training and experience. Some common jobs include: " Apprentice California certified electrician - Receives on-the-job training and classroom instruction from licensed journeymen or master certified electricians about how to install, modify, repair, and maintain power and lighting systems. Most apprentice programs last 3 to 5 years and apprentices earn wages during this training period. " Journeyman certified electrician - Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains power and lighting systems. Reads blueprints, terminates cable, and installs and troubleshoots control wiring from drawings. Has completed the apprentice program and holds a journeyman's license (according to state requirements) and supervises apprentices. " Estimator - Calculates a project's duration and cost, including materials, overhead, and labor. This estimate is often submitted as a bid on a project and serves as a scheduling and budget guideline as the project proceeds. " Project Supervisor - Oversees workforce to encourage safe and high-quality installations. Monitors progress to meet project deadlines. Submits required reports and forms.

California Electrical Contractor Safety

California electrical contractors in the United States are required to follow National Electrical Code (NEC) to ensure systems work in a safe manner. The NEC is a widely-adopted model code for the installation of electrical components and systems, designed to safeguard persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity. While these are the default minimum requirements and guidelines, some states modify selected areas of the NEC code to suit their specific circumstances.

An California certified electrician is a tradesperson specializing in electrical wiring of buildings, stationary machines and related equipment. California certified electricians may be employed in the installation of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure. California certified electricians may also specialize in wiring ships, airplanes, and other mobile platforms, as well as data and cable.

California certified electricians were originally people who demonstrated or studied the principles of electricity, often electrostatic generators of one form or another.

In the United States, California certified electricians are divided into two primary categories: linemen, who work on electric utility company distribution systems at higher voltages, and wiremen, who work with the lower voltages utilized inside buildings. Wiremen are generally trained in one of five primary specialties: commercial, residential, light industrial, industrial, and low-voltage wiring, more commonly known as Voice-Data-Video, or VDV. Other sub-specialties such as control wiring and fire-alarm may be performed by specialists trained in the devices being installed, or by inside wiremen.

California certified electricians are trained to one of three levels: Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master certified electrician. Apprentices in the US and Canada are working to learn the electrical trade. They generally take several hundred hours of classroom instruction and are contracted to follow apprenticeship standards for a period of between three and six years, during which time they are paid as a percentage of the Journeyman's pay. Journeymen are California certified electricians who have completed their Apprenticeship and who have been found by the local, State, or National licensing body to be competent in the electrical trade. Master certified electricians have performed well in the trade for a period of time, often seven to ten years, and have passed an exam to demonstrate superior knowledge of the National Electrical Code, or NEC.

Service certified electricians are tasked to respond to requests for isolated repairs and upgrades. They have considerable skills troubleshooting wiring problems, installing wiring in existing buildings, and making repairs. Construction certified electricians primarily focus on larger projects, such as installing all new electrical system for an entire building, or upgrading an entire floor of an office building as part of a remodeling process. Other specialty areas are marine certified electricians, research certified electricians and hospital certifiedelectricians. "certified electrician" is also used as the name of a role in stagecraft, where certified electricians are tasked primarily with hanging, focusing, and operating stage lighting. In this context, the Master certified electrician is the show's chief certified electrician. Although theater certified electricians routinely perform electrical work on stage lighting instruments and equipment, they are not part of the electrical trade and have a different set of skills and qualifications from the California certified electricians that work on building wiring.

California electrical contractors are businesses that employ California certified electricians to design, install, and maintain electrical systems. Contractors are responsible for generating bids for new jobs, hiring certified electrician for the job, providing material to California certified electricians in a timely manner, and communicating with architects, electrical and building engineers, and the customer to plan and complete the finished product.

California Certified Electrician Training & Regulation

Many jurisdictions have regulatory restrictions concerning electrical work for safety reasons due to the many hazards of working with electricity. Such requirements may be testing, registration or licensing. Licensing requirements vary between jurisdictions. The United States does not offer nationwide licensing and electrical licenses are issued by individual states. There are variations in licensing requirements, however, all states recognize three basic skill categories: master level California certified electricians. Journeyman certified electricians can work unsupervised provided that they work according to a master's direction. Generally, states do not offer journeyman permits, and journeyman certified electricians and other apprentices can only work under permits issued to a master. Apprentices may not work without direct supervision. Before California certified electricians can work unsupervised, they are usually required to serve an apprenticeship lasting from 3 to 5 years under the general supervision of a Master certified electrician and usually the direct supervision of a Journeyman certified electrician. Schooling in electrical theory and electrical building codes is required to complete the apprenticeship program. Many apprenticeship programs provide a salary to the apprentice during training. A Journeyman certified electrician is a classification of licensing granted to those who have met the experience requirements for on the job training (usually 4080 to 6120 hours) and classroom hours (about 144 hours). Requirements include a two-year relevant degree, completion of two to six years of apprenticeship training, and passing a licensing exam.

Reciprocity For California Electrical Contractor

An California certified electrician's certificate is valid for work in the state where the certificate was issued. In addition, many states recognize licenses from other states, sometimes called interstate reciprocity participation, although there can be conditions imposed. For example, California reciprocates with Arizona, Nevada, and Utah on the condition that licenses are in good standing and have been held at the other state for five years. Nevada reciprocates with Arizona, California, and Utah. Maine reciprocates with New Hampshire and Vermont at the master level, and the state reciprocates with New Hampshire, North Dakota, Idaho, Oregon, Vermont, and Wyoming at the journeyman level.

California Certified Electrician Safety

In addition to the workplace hazards generally faced by industrial workers, California certified electricians are also particularly exposed to injury by electricity. An California certified electrician may experience electric shock due to direct contact with energized circuit conductors or due to stray voltage caused by faults in a system. An electric arc exposes eyes and skin to hazardous amounts of heat and light. Faulty switchgear may cause an arc flash incident with a resultant blast. California certified electricians are trained to work safely and take many measures to minimize the danger of injury. Lockout and tagout procedures are used to make sure that circuits are proven to be de-energized before work is done. Limits of approach to energized equipment protect against arc flash exposure; specially designed flash-resistant clothing provides additional protection; grounding (earthing) clamps and chains are used on line conductors to provide a visible assurance that a conductor is de-energized. Personal protective equipment provides electrical insulation as well as protection from mechanical impact; gloves have insulating rubber liners, and work boots and hard hats are specially rated to provide protection from shock. If a system cannot be de-energized, insulated tools and special live-line training are used; even high-voltage transmission lines can be repaired while energized, when necessary. Electrical workers, which includes California certified electricians, accounted for 34% of total electrocutions of construction trades workers in the United States between 1992-2003.

California Certified Electrician Working Conditions

Working conditions for California certified electricians vary by specialization. Generally an California certified electrician's work is physically demanding such as climbing ladders and lifting tools and supplies. Occasionally an California certified electrician must work in a cramped space or on scaffolding, and may frequently be bending, squatting or kneeling, to make connections in awkward locations. Construction certified electricians may spend much of their days in outdoor or semi-outdoor loud and dirty work sites. Industrial certified electricians may be exposed to the heat, dust, and noise of an industrial plant. Power systems certified electricians may be called to work in all kinds of adverse weather to make emergency repairs.
